Nebraska's Natural Gas Annual Consumption by Sector

In 2022, Nebraska used 198.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas, an increase of 4.0 percent from 2021. The industrial sector consumed 52.17 percent of the total consumption, the residential sector consumed 20.93 percent, and the commercial sector consumed 17.37 percent. The electric power and transportation sectors consumed 6.73 percent and 2.80 percent, respectively.

Within the residential sector, according to the "2022 American Community Survey", 59 percent of Nebraska households used natural gas as their primary heating fuel.
