Petroleum Consumption by Sector
In 2023, the state's petroleum consumption was 45,531 thousand barrels (45.5 million barrels), a 1.3 percent decrease from 46,151 thousand barrels (46.2 million barrels) in 2022. The transportation sector was responsible for over three–quarters (79.3 percent) of the consumption, with the industrial, residential, commercial, and electric power sectors consuming the remaining 15.9 percent, 2.7 percent, 2.0 percent, and 0.21 percent, respectively.
