Federal flood insurance program extends renewal deadline

The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) wants Nebraskans to know the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has temporarily extended the normal 30-day grace period for policyholders to pay for their expired National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies.
Policyholders whose NFIP policy expired on or after Oct. 1, 2025, have until Jan. 15, 2026, to submit their renewal payment. Policies with a grace period that extend later than Jan. 15, 2026, follow the normal 30-day grace period and are not part of this extension.

Applications for the 2026 cropping season of NiRIA are now due Dec. 15, 2025.
