Over $1.7 Million Awarded to Recycling, Litter Programs

Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Director Mike Linder has announced the awarding of $1,765,776 in 55 grants for litter cleanup, recycling, and public education programs and activities. Funds for the Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program are generated from a fee charged to certain manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers of products that commonly contribute to litter.

Environmental Update Meeting Scheduled May 14 in Lincoln

April 2, 2013 – The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has scheduled the annual Environmental Update in Lincoln on May 14, 2013 at the Towers Event Center, 6981 A Street, #111. Representatives from businesses and industries are invited to attend, ask questions, pick up new information, and provide feedback. Registration begins at 8:00 am.

Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Applications Due August 1, 2013

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has announced a new deadline for submissions for Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant applications. Applications for 2014 grants are due August 1, 2013.

The Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program provides funds annually to support programs to reduce litter, provide education and promote recycling in Nebraska. Grants may be awarded to both public and private entities.

May 24, 2013 – The Environmental Quality Council will hold hearings June 20 in South Sioux City on the Intended Use Plan for Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, Air Quality regulations, Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Percentage Allocations and the repeal of Title 133 – Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program. The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the Marina Inn, 385 East 4th Street.
