Pursuant to NDEE’s Title 118 - Ground Water Quality Standards and Use Classification, public notification and opportunity for comment is hereby given of the following:

1.  On or about November 5, 2000, NDEE was notified of a release of Aromatic Concentrate at the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) railroad tracks located near W. 25th St. and Ave. L in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.   BNSF was responsible for the release. The legal description of the property is: SW ¼, NE ¼, SE ¼, in Section 15, of T22N-R55W, Scotts Bluff County.

2.  Multiple remediation methods have significantly reduced groundwater contaminant concentrations. An area approximately 80 feet in diameter remains that has two monitoring wells with Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) concentrations above the cleanup level of 1.67 mg/l.

3.  Groundwater monitoring has demonstrated plume stability and institutional controls will be emplaced to prohibit drinking water well installation in the prescribed area. The NDEE intends to require no further action at this release location.
