Nebraska Pellet Production

There are three commercial pellet plants in Nebraska. Two of the plants have the total capacity to produce 30,000 short tons.

  • Horizon Biofuels, Inc., in Fremont has the capacity to produce 20,000 short tons of pellets.
  • Pellet Technology USA in Gretna has the capacity to produce 10,000 short tons of pellets.
  • The third plant, Grain States Bio Fuels LLC, is located in Scribner. There is no capacity information.

Pellet information is being surveyed by the Energy Information Administration. The results are released in the Densified Biomass Fuel Report. This is a new report and data for January 2016 is the only data so far. Subsequent months will soon follow. Going forward, current data will be released on a regular monthly schedule.
