The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (DWEE) is providing a free multi-part webinar series on the updated 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). This series is relevant since the 2018 IECC will become the Nebraska Energy Code on July 1, 2020.

This no-cost training for local governments and members of Nebraska’s construction and design industry is part of DWEE’s commitment to provide ongoing energy building codes training for the compliance, construction and design industries in Nebraska.

Rebates Available for Diesel School Bus Replacements;

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy’s Nebraska Diesel Emission Mitigation Program has announced the opening of the 2020 School Bus Rebate Program, which will use funds from Nebraska’s portion of Volkswagen State Trust to provide rebates to replace diesel school buses. Schools across the state are being notified that applications are now being accepted and must be received by Aug. 7, 2020, to be considered for selection. DWEE anticipates awarding up to 44 school bus rebates during this third year of the program.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (DWEE) is taking applications for a new grant program designed to encourage the installation of ethanol blender pumps across Nebraska. Expanding motorists’ access to higher blends of ethanol will increase usage of advance biofuels and offer benefits to the state’s environment. Funding for the grants is made possible through a three-year, $3 million award from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

Health Alerts issued for Wagon Train and Rockford lakes

The state has issued health alerts for Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB), also known as toxic blue-green algae, at Wagon Train Lake in Lancaster County and Rockford Lake in Gage County.

Lakes that continue to be on health alert are Maple Creek Recreation Area Lake in Colfax County, Kirkman’s Cove Lake in Richardson County and Willow Creek Reservoir in Pierce County. Bluestem Lake in Lancaster County has been removed from the list of lakes under health alert.
