Addendum to 2016 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan Available for Public Comment Through November 30
Nov. 22, 2016 – An Addendum to Nebraska's 2016 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan is available for public comment, through November 30, 2016. This addendum proposes to establish a new, source-oriented, ambient air monitoring site for SO2 at OPPD ballpark on Pershing Drive in Omaha.
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ), in consultation with EPA Region 7, submitted on June 29, 2016, a proposal in the 2016 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan to use the existing SO2 site at 1616 Whitmore Street in Omaha, NE to meet the monitoring requirements of 40 CFR Part 51 Subpart BB (a.k.a. the Dfata Requirements Rule or DRR). Upon further review and consultation with EPA Region 7, the NDEQ now proposes to establish a new monitoring site to meet the DRR monitoring requirements. This new site is to be operational by January 1, 2017. The existing site at 1616 Whitmore will continue to operate.
During the public comment period, written comments regarding this addendum to the Network Plan may be submitted to the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) at the mail or email addresses below.
