The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) provides several ways to share news with the public, the regulated community, and other stakeholders.

Press releases, web updates, and social media play a large role in these communications. But NDEE can reach its audiences directly through their inboxes using our listserv mailing lists.

Presentations for 2024 Power Summit are available

The 2024 Power Summit, sponsored by NDEE and NPPD, was held in Lincoln on Sept. 26, 2024. The Power Summit provides those in the power generating industry and those responsible for the implementation of the associated environmental regulations with an opportunity to exchange information related to power production, environmental policies, programs, and issues in Nebraska.

A primary objective of the Summit is to enhance the dialogue that has been established between the power industry and the associated regulatory agencies.

Health Alert issued for Kirkman's Cove Lake and Iron Horse Trail Lake
Press Releases

The state has issued health alerts for Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB), also known as toxic blue-green algae, at Kirkman’s Cove Lake in Richardson County and Iron Horse Trail Lake in Pawnee County.

Samples taken earlier this week at the lakes on alert measure above the threshold of 8 parts per billion (ppb) of total microcystin, which is a toxin released by certain strains of blue-green algae.

That is why the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) assists the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in its role as the emergency support function for Oil and Hazardous Materials Response (ESF 10).

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) compiles, maintains, and publishes energy statistics on the production and consumption of energy in the state of Nebraska as part of the agency’s State Energy Program.

The statistics are valuable to public and private sectors as they inform Nebraskans, researchers, and decision-makers on energy in the state.

Data used in the statistics originates from state and federal agencies, the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, associations, utilities, cities, and private industries.
