Wood Preserving Area Sources

Applicability

eCFR Subpart QQQQQQ [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:

  1. Owners or operators of wood preserving operations that are Area Sources* of HAPs.

Definition of "Wood Preserving":

  • The pressure or thermal impregnation of chemicals into wood to provide effective long-term resistance to attack by fungi, bacteria, insects, and marine borers.


*Area Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:

  • < 10 tons/year of any single HAP, or
  • < 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Major Sources emit more than Area Sources.

  • Existing Source = constructed or reconstructed on or before April 4, 2007
  • New Source = constructed or reconstructed after April 4, 2007

Initial Notification

  • Existing source = Oct 14, 2007
  • New source = Within 90 days of compliance date

Compliance Dates

  • Existing = July 16, 2007
  • New source = July 16, 2007 or upon startup

Compliance Status Notification

  • Existing source = Oct 14, 2007
  • New source = Within 90 days of compliance date

Deviation Report

  • Within 30 days of the deviation
