Calciners and Dryers in Mineral Industries - Subpart UUU
Applicability
eCFR Subpart UUU [ecfr.gov]
This subpart applies to:
- Affected facilities at mineral processing plants that commence construction, modification, or reconstruction after Apr 23, 1986.
Affected facilities:
- Calciners;
- Dryers.
For the brick and related clay products industry, only the calcining and drying of raw materials prior to firing of the brick are covered.
Not subject to this subpart:
- Affected facilities subject to NSPS LL;
- Vertical shaft kilns in the magnesium compound industry;
- Chlorination-oxidation processes in the titanium oxide industry;
- Coating kilns, mixers, and aerators in the roofing granules industry;
- Tunnel kilns, tunnel dryers, apron dryers, and grinding equipment that also dries process material in any of the 17 mineral industries (per 40 CFR 60.731).
