The state has issued a health alert for toxic blue-green algae at Kirkman’s Cove Lake in Richardson County. Alerts continue at Iron Horse Trail Lake in Pawnee County, Willow Creek Reservoir in Pierce County and Rockford Lake in Gage County.

Samples taken earlier this week at the lake on alert measured above the threshold of 8 parts per billion (ppb) of total microcystin, which is a toxin released by certain strains of blue-green algae.

Bluestem Lake remains on alert for the second consecutive week. After being on alert last week, Big Indian Lake in Gage County has been removed from alert. Samples taken earlier this week at Bluestem Lake measured above the threshold of 8 parts per billion (ppb) of total microcystin, which is a toxin released by certain strains of blue-green algae.
