Feb. 4, 2010 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is announcing the availability of the draft 2010 Water Quality Integrated Report and the opportunity for public comment. Copies of the draft report and methodology can be found below on this web page.

The Department of Environmental Quality will be holding its annual Environmental Update, (formerly known as Consultants Day) on June 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lancaster County Extension Office, 444 Cherry Creek Road, Lincoln. Representatives from businesses and industries are invited to attend, ask questions, pick up new information, and provide feedback. If you plan on attending, please complete the registration form which is attached to the agenda below. There is a $10 registration fee.

The Small Business Compliance Advisory Panel, as provided in Nebraska Revised Statute 81-1505.03, will meet in open session at 10:30 a..m. June 29th at Duster's, 2804 13th St., Columbus.

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will hold three information sessions to summarize and explain proposed changes to Title 130 -- Livestock Waste Control Regulations. The information sessions are scheduled for 7 p.m. at the following locations and dates:
 

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is proposing a Permit-by-Rule provision for pesticides as a new chapter in Title 119 -- Rules And Regulations Pertaining To The Issuance Of Permits Under The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. The proposed changes to Title 119 are currently in draft form and will be presented to the Environmental Quality Council at their quarterly meeting scheduled December 1 and 2, 2010.

February 1, 2011 is the deadline to apply for 2011 Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grants. Four meetings have been set to inform the public about new application forms, electronic submittal of applications, and the new scoring system used to rank applications. Private entities, non-profit organizations, and political subdivisions can apply for waste reduction grants.

Nebraska's 2010 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan and 5 Year Assessment is available for public inspection. The Network Plan was developed to comply with new Federal regulation 40 CFR Part 58.10.

On January 17, 2017, EPA authorized NDEQ to administer the RCRA (hazardous waste) Corrective Action Program. Until now, final decisions concerning site-wide cleanup were the responsibility of EPA; now NDEQ has been given this final decision-making authority. Waste Management Section Supervisor Bill Gidley said that the program is fully prepared to assume these additional responsibilities, and that the changes will be beneficial for the agency, EPA, and those regulated under the RCRA program.

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will be coordinating the annual meeting of the Nebraska Small Business Compliance Advisory Panel.
