Public Comment Sought on Nebraska’s Draft 2010 Water Quality Integrated Report
Feb. 4, 2010 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is announcing the availability of the draft 2010 Water Quality Integrated Report and the opportunity for public comment. Copies of the draft report and methodology can be found below on this web page.
On May 09, 2009 EPA issued guidance for the 2010 waterbody assessments and reporting requirements for Section 303(d), Section 305(b) and Section 314 of the Clean Water Act. The final product is again being referred to as an “Integrated Report”. EPA’s goal for this report is to provide the general public with a comprehensive summary of state and national water quality. The NDEQ has opted to prepare such a report not only for the general public but also for water quality management planning purposes (such as, future monitoring, TMDL development, best management practice implementation).
When final, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will submit the 2010 Water Quality Integrated Report to EPA Region 7 for review and approval/disapproval as required by the Clean Water Act. Through this web page and public notices issued to several Nebraska newspapers, NDEQ is providing a means for public participation in the completion of the list and is hereby soliciting review and comments. All comments received on or before 4:00 p.m. March 8, 2010 will be considered and the proposed list possibly revised.
The draft Integrated Report is provided below, along with copies of the 2010 Integrated Report methodology, and a copy of the public notice. These documents are also available in hard copy at the NDEQ offices.
