$1.6 Million Awarded For Tire Collection, Recycling Projects

Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Director Jim Macy announced today that the state is awarding $1.59 million to support 106 tire recycling and cleanup projects across the state. The Department received nearly $2.2 million in eligible grant requests.

"The agency received many outstanding applications from across the state,” Macy said. “These funds will provide needed support to local efforts which effectively deal with scrap tires in Nebraska.”

VW Funds Received to Reimburse Replacement of Diesel Refuse Trucks and Irrigation Engines

NDEQ has received its first payment from the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund. The $287,243 that NDEQ received is designated to reimburse eligible applicants of the Clean Diesel Rebate Program. The money will be used along with federal grant funds to partially reimburse costs associated with the replacement of five diesel refuse trucks and six diesel irrigation engines.

Clean Diesel Rebate Applications Accepted Through December 15

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality’s 2018 Clean Diesel Rebate Program is now accepting applications for two types of rebate – diesel refuse truck replacements and agricultural irrigation pump diesel engine replacements. Applications must be submitted to NDEQ by December 15, 2018 to be considered.

NDEQ established the Nebraska Clean Diesel Program in 2008 to distribute funding received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the purpose of reducing diesel emissions and improving air quality in the state.

NDEE now accepting applications for Private Well Reverse Osmosis Rebate Program through March 31, 2023

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) is now accepting applications for the Private Well Reverse Osmosis Rebate Program.

NDEE will administer $1.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds through rebates for private well reverse osmosis systems, which is part of a larger $4 million ARPA initiative administered by NDEE as authorized under LB 1014e Section 51.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy Director Jim Macy announced on February 6, 2023 the award of $7,733,191.25 in grants to support 140 projects across the state. These grants will help fund litter and waste reduction projects, recycling programs, and pay costs for scrap tire cleanups and collections for household hazardous waste, electronic waste, and pharmaceuticals.
