Proposed C&D Disposal Area Hearing Scheduled April 25 in Grand Island

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a public hearing on April 25 in Grand Island regarding a proposed permit for a proposed new construction and demolition disposal area near Alda.

The permit application is from O’Neill Wood Resources, LLC for a property located 3 ¼ miles north of Alda on Highway 24. The construction and demolition permit would allow acceptance of waste from land clearing and the demolition of buildings, roads or other structures. Allowable material includes fill materials, wood, land-clearing debris other than yard waste, wall covering, drywall, plaster and a variety of other building materials.

The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. April 25 at the Hall County Extension Office, 3180 W. US Highway 34, Grand Island. Prior to the hearing, a public information session will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the same location. The information session is an open forum and the public is invited to discuss issues with NDEQ staff.

Copies of the draft permit, legal notice and administrative record are available at the Grand Island Public Library, 211 N Washington, Grand Island; at the NDEQ Grand Island Field Office, 215 Kaufman Ave., Grand Island; and at the Lincoln headquarters of the NDEQ, 1200 N Street, Suite 400, The Atrium, Lincoln, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
