In 2021, the number of residential consuming entities (or meters) increased by 10,000 consumers to 553,000; average annual consumption per consumer entity fell two thousand cubic feet to 66 thousand cubic feet; and the average annual residential natural gas bill increased $86 to $633.
The average annual residential natural gas bill set a new record of $922 in 2008 topping the previous records of $870 in 2007 and $854 in 2001.
Compressed Natural Gas Consumption as Vehicle Fuel in Nebraska

Compressed natural gas (CNG) consumption for vehicle use was volatile from January to August, just like in 2023, but leveled out the rest of 2024. Consumption was at the upper boundary or above the five–year range the majority of the time in 2024. Consumption was above the five–year average for eleven months of the year. 2024 consumption mimicked the year 2023 consumption with the exception of February. This is seen in Figure 1.
