NDEE Presents Public Hearing for Nebraska Water Quality Standards Triennial Review

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy will present Public Hearing for Nebraska Water Quality Standards Triennial Review webinar on Thursday, April 29, at 10 a.m. This hearing is intended for the regulated community and stakeholders, and is open to the general public through remote or in-person attendance.

About the hearing: Water Quality Standards are found in Title 117, which establishes a regulatory basis for discharge permits and other regulatory programs. It also establishes publicly stated goals for water quality that serve as the basis for assessing the surface water quality within Nebraska.

The purpose of the hearing is to take public testimony and evidence about the review of NDEE regulations at Title 117 – Nebraska Surface Water Quality Standards. For more information on how to testify, visit the hearing's public notice page.

About the presenter: Tara Anderson is the Water Quality Standards Coordinator in the Planning & Aid Division, Water Planning Section at NDEE. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources and a Master of Science Degree in Natural Resources with a specialization in Aquatic Ecology, both from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She joined NDEE in 2016 as a project manager for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program, and started working as the Water Quality Standards Coordinator in 2019.

The webinar moderator is Steven Thomas, NDEE attorney.

Registration:

In-person: Email NDEE.wqs@nebraska.gov with “Request to Attend-T117 Public Hearing” in the subject line, and include your name, job title, organization and phone number in the message. In the meeting, the current Directed Health Measures will be followed, including the requirement to wear a face mask. There are 75 seats available.

Remote attendance:

1. Go to NDEE Public Hearing for Nebraska Water Quality Standards Triennial Review
2. Click "Register.”
3. On the registration form, enter your information and then click "Submit.”
