Comment Period for Proposed Revisions to State Implementation Plan Open Through June 21
Updated information: June 24, 2019 - The June 25 public hearing has been cancelled because there was no hearing request received during the 3-day notification and comment period.
May 20, 2019 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) is proposing to revise a portion of the State Implementation Plan (SIP) currently approved by EPA. The portion proposed for revision addresses the authority of Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) with respect to the Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) program, and was originally approved by EPA on February 14, 1996. Its inclusion in the SIP has created confusion as to the delegation of authority for PSD permits and delegation of duties to LLCHD with respect to the PSD program.
If requested, an opportunity for public hearing is available on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 9:30 A.M. at NDEQ’s Lincoln offices. If no request for a public hearing is received during the 30-day notification and comment period, the hearing will be cancelled. Cancellation of the public hearing will be announced on Monday, June 24, 2019, on this webpage (https://dee.nebraska.gov/news-events/press-releases/comment-period-proposed-revisions-state-implementation-plan-open-through-june-21) and the public may call the main agency number (402) 471-2186 (Toll Free: (877) 253-2603) to inquire if the hearing has been cancelled.
During the 30-day public comment period, written comments regarding this request may be submitted to the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality at NDEE.AirQuality@nebraska.gov or to the mail address below. All comments received through 3:30 PM on June 21, 2019 will be considered.
Upon finalization, NDEQ will submit the SIP Revision Request to EPA Region 7 for review and approval as required by the Clean Air Act (CAA).
