Phosphoric Acid Manufacturing

Applicability

eCFR Subpart AA [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:

  1. Affected sources at phosphoric acid manufacturing plants that are Major Sources of HAPs*.

Affected sources:

  1. Wet-process phosphoric acid process lines;
  2. Evaporative cooling towers;
  3. Phosphate rock dryers;
  4. Phosphate rock calciners;
  5. Superphosphoric acid process lines;
  6. Purified phosphoric acid process lines;
  7. Gypsum dewatering stacks;
  8. Cooling ponds.


*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:

  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.


Not subject to this subpart:

  1. Research and development facilities.
  2. Phosphoric acid manufacturing plants considered area sources.
