Generic MACT Standards - Acrylic Fibers/Modacrylic Fibers & Spandex

Applicability

eCFR Subpart YY [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:

  1. Any of the following at Major Sources of HAPs*:
    1. Acetal resins production;
    2. Acrylic and modacrylic fibers production;
    3. Carbon black production;
    4. Cyanide chemicals manufacturing;
    5. Ethylene production;
    6. Hydrogen flouride production;
    7. Polycarbonate production;
    8. Spandex production.

This subpart includes Generic MACT/NESHAP requirements for the above facilities. See also specific requirements for certain affected facilities under NESHAP SS, TT, UU, WW, and XX.


Not subject to this subpart:

  1. Research and development facilities.


*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:

  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.
