August 26 Meeting to Seek Input on Hazardous Waste Regulations

July 30, 2015 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) is announcing that a preliminary meeting has been scheduled for 2 p.m. August 26, to discuss proposed amendments to Title 128 – Nebraska Hazardous Waste Regulations. A copy of NDEQ's presentation is attached at the bottom of this page.
NDEQ is inviting hazardous waste generators, managers and the interested public to participate in this outreach process.
The proposed regulation changes would amend Title 128 in three areas:
Drinking Water Protection Workshops to be held in Gothenburg, West Point

Sept. 8, 2015 – Two workshops focusing on Drinking Water Protection will be held in Gothenburg on Oct. 28th and in West Point on Nov. 4th.
Goals of the workshops are to offer an opportunity for municipal officials, drinking water system operators and administrators to learn about our groundwater-based drinking water supply sources, approaches to protect these sources from contamination, and ways to strengthen collaboration in protecting our drinking water. Environmental Update – AFO Workshop Scheduled December 11 in Norfolk

December 4, 2015 – The 2015 Environmental Update – AFO Workshop, hosted by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, will be held in Norfolk on December 11. Spaces are still available; those who haven’t registered yet can register using the form below, or can register at the event. A $10 fee is charged to cover costs for snacks and beverages.

Brownfields Funding Workshop to be Held in Lincoln Oct. 20 Registration Due by October 14

Oct. 1, 2015 -- A free “2015 Redevelopment Funding for Brownfields Workshop” will be held Oct. 20, 2015 at the Lancaster County Extension Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln. The workshop is co-hosted by NDEQ and the Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program at Kansas State University.
The workshop is provided for local government officials, community development personnel and anyone within local government and Health Departments across the state interested in learning about Brownfields and/or the tools and resources available to assist with local redevelopment opportunities.
Nebraska Small Business Compliance Advisory Panel to Meet November 10

Clean Diesel Reimbursement Recipients Selected

Dec. 18, 2015 --The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality announced the selection of six Nebraska schools that will receive Clean Diesel reimbursements. The reimbursements will be used to help the schools replace older school buses with new buses that have certified cleaner-burning engines. This funding is made possible by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s State Clean Diesel Grant program.
Draft 2016 Integrated Report Available Online for Public Comment

Feb. 5, 2016 – The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality’s draft 2016 Water Quality Integrated Report is now available for public review and comment.
Upon finalization, NDEQ will submit the 2016 Water Quality Integrated Report to EPA Region 7 for review and approval/disapproval as required by the Clean Water Act. All comments received through the close of business March 7, 2016 will be considered and the proposed list possibly revised.

Proposals for Petroleum Remediation Contractors Accepted Until April 14

March 3, 2016 – The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is now accepting proposals from contractors for the investigation and remediation of petroleum releases where the responsible party is unknown. Proposals are due no later than 1 p.m. on April 14, 2016.
