Petroleum Consumption by Sector

 

In 2022, the state's petroleum consumption was 46,112 thousand barrels (46.1 million barrels), a less than one percent (0.14%) decrease from 46,175 thousand barrels (46.2 million barrels) in 2021. The transportation sector was responsible for over three–quarters (78.5 percent) of the consumption, with the industrial, residential, commercial, and electric power sectors consuming the remaining 15.6 percent, 3.3 percent, 2.3 percent, and 0.18 percent, respectively.
