NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

DEPARTMENT OF Water, Energy, and Environment

 

            Notice is hereby given pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 84-907 that the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (“DWEE”), will hold a public hearing on proposed regulations relating to water well standards and water well contractor licensing. The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and will be held in Room 031 of the DWEE’s Lincoln office, located at 245 Fallbrook Blvd., Lincoln, NE 68521.

            There are two purposes of the proposed regulations. The first purpose of the proposed regulations is to update the fee schedule for individuals who practice a profession or intend to practice a profession under the Water Well Standards and Contractors’ Practice Act. The second purpose of the proposed regulations is to make conforming amendments in light of the legislative transfer of the well driller program from the Department of Health and Human Services to DWEE, as well as the merger of the Department of Environment and Energy and the Department of Natural Resources.

            Draft copies of the proposed regulations are available for public examination: at the office of the Secretary of State, 1201 N St., Ste. 120, Lincoln, NE 68508; at the DWEE’s Lincoln office; and on DWEE’s website (http://dwee.nebraska.gov).

            A description of the fiscal impact of the proposed regulations on state agencies, political subdivisions, and persons being regulated may be inspected and obtained at the DWEE’s Lincoln office.

            Attendance is open to the public. Comments on the proposed regulations may be submitted via oral testimony at the public hearing; electronic mail to DWEE.Title134@nebraska.gov; or postal mail addressed to DWEE, Title 134, 245 Fallbrook Blvd. Suite 100, Lincoln, NE 68521. To be considered, comments must be received by 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
