NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) proposes to issue a new National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for Dutton-Lainson Company, 120 East 2nd Street, Hastings, NE (NPDES# NE0140431; SIC 3499). This campus of Dutton Lainson Company runs a zinc die cast machine and machines metals to supplement production needs at their main facility. Non-process wastewater discharges through Outfalls 001 to the West Fork of the Big Blue River, Segment BB3-30000 in the Big Blue River Basin via the City storm sewer. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review and copying at DWEE’s Lincoln Office, 245 Fallbrook Boulevard, Suite 100, Lincoln, Nebraska 68521 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (CT), weekdays, excluding holidays. Written comments, objections, and/or hearing requests concerning permit issuance may be submitted to NPDES and State Permits Section, Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment, 245 Fallbrook Boulevard, Suite 100, Lincoln, NE 68521; before the comment period ending date of March 28, 2026. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
