for Beatrice Area Solid Waste Agency (BASWA) South Municipal Solid Waste Landfill
under consideration by the
Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy
PUBLIC NOTICE is given in accordance with Title 132 - Integrated Solid Waste Management Regulations, Chapter 2, §011, that the Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy (NDEE) has received an application to issue a permit to Beatrice Area Solid Waste Agency (BASWA) South Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, 3426 West Locust Road, Beatrice, Nebraska. After review of the permit application, a preliminary determination has been made to recommend issuance of the permit. The term of the permit shall be five years.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION. The permit allows the operation of a new municipal solid waste landfill under Nebraska's solid waste management laws and regulations. The landfill shall receive household waste, alone or in combination with other types of wastes such as commercial solid waste, industrial waste, nonhazardous sludge, or conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste, and which is not a land application unit, surface impoundment, injection well, or waste pit. The BASWA South Municipal Solid Waste Landfill will continue the operations of the existing BASWA Municipal Solid Waste Landfill as and after the existing permitted landfill reaches its permitted waste capacity.
FACILITY LOCATION. The property is located approximately 3 miles south of Beatrice, Nebraska. The legal description of BASWA South Municipal Solid Waste Landfill is the NE ¼, except for various tracts, of Section 20, Township 3 North, Range 6 East of the 6th Principal Meridian, Gage County, Nebraska. The BASWA South Municipal Solid Waste Landfill will be located south across Locust Road from the existing BASWA Municipal Solid Waste Landfill and adjoining west to the existing BASWA Construction & Demolition Waste Disposal Area.
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND HEARING. The public may submit written comments and may also request a public hearing on the permitting decision. A request for a hearing must be made in writing and state the issues proposed for discussion and their relation to the proposed permit issuance. The NDEE will make a final decision to issue or deny the permit based on the permit application, the compliance status of BASWA’s other permitted solid waste disposal areas, and public comment received. NDEE will notify the applicant and other interested persons.
COMMENT PERIOD. All comments or requests for a hearing must be postmarked by January 20th, 2025.

Select “Search” and all the documents for that facility will appear. Use the “Index of Correspondence” to select the documents related to this public notice.
