Public Hearing Scheduled May 31 for Milford Landfill Permit Renewal
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has announced a public comment period and a public hearing regarding the proposal to renew the operating permit for G&P Development, Inc. Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Milford. The public comment period is open through May 23, 2017. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. May 31 at the Milford Webermeier Public Library, 617 2nd Street, Milford.
The permit allows the operation of the existing municipal solid waste landfill under Nebraska's solid waste management laws and regulations. The landfill shall receive household waste, alone or in combination with other types of wastes such as commercial solid waste, industrial waste, nonhazardous sludge, or conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste. The property is located at 427 238th Road, which is approximately 3 ½ miles south of Milford on 238th Road.
The public is welcome to attend the May 31 hearing and make formal comment on the permitting decision. After the hearing, the NDEQ Director shall make a final decision. The applicant and other interested persons shall be notified of the decision.
