Permits Issued for Two Proposed Hog Operations in Butler County

June 25, 2013 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality is announcing that it has issued construction and operating permits for two proposed hog confinement operations in Butler County. The operations are for Danbred Performance Research Center and Hough Nursery in Butler County. Both proposals received extensive public comment.

“We gave careful consideration to public comments, and posed numerous additional questions to the applicant prior to completing these permit reviews,” said Dennis Heitmann, Supervisor of NDEQ’s Agriculture Section. “After extensive analysis, we have concluded that both proposed operations meet all requirements of Nebraska’s livestock waste control regulations.”

NDEQ has developed a response summary letter which addresses issues raised during the public comment period, which is being mailed to all commenters that provided a mailing address. A copy of the document is attached.
