NDEE Presents Hazardous Waste Compliance Webinar October 22


Oct. 16, 2019 -- The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) will present a Hazardous Waste Compliance Webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. This seminar is intended for facilities that are Small Quantity Generators (SQGs) of hazardous waste in the state of Nebraska, and will provide beneficial information for environmental professionals and others involved in hazardous waste management. The webinar will address the inspection process, waste determinations and online reporting. The weminar is also open to the general public.

This is the fifth event of a series of monthly webinars planned through December 2019, and is part of a new outreach effort that is the result of input received from stakeholders through the spring 2019 public outreach and program participation survey.

About the webinar: The SQG 101 webinar will define what it is to be a Small Quantity Generator of hazardous waste in Nebraska and how to best adhere to current regulations. The webinar will be useful both to individuals new to RCRA regulations, as well as a good refresher for those already in the industry.

About the presenter: Erik Waiss is the Environmental Assistance Coordinator for the Waste Compliance Section in the Land Division of NDEE. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geosciences with emphasis in Geology and a Master of Science Degree in Geology with emphasis in Sedimentology and Paleoclimate Change, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has worked primarily in Nebraska since his graduation, working with several consulting firms since 2005. He earned his Professional Geologist License from the Nebraska State Board of Geologists in 2009. After providing environmental expertise to his clients for several years, Erik joined NDEE in 2012.
