June 4 Meeting to Discuss Waste Management Rule Proposal
May 23, 2014 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) intends to propose regulation changes later this year concerning the management and disposal of solvent-contaminated shop wipes, such as reusable shop towels, rags, disposable wipes and paper towels. NDEQ has scheduled a public outreach meeting from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at NDEQ’s offices at 1200 N St., Lincoln. The purpose of the meeting will be to explain the concept of the proposed changes and to invite public input.
The proposed regulations would amend Title 128 - Nebraska Hazardous Waste Regulations. The NDEQ plans to propose these amendments to the Environmental Quality Council (EQC) at its October 2014 meeting.
NDEQ issued a letter to waste generators, industrial laundries and solid and hazardous waste managers, to inform them of the proposed changes and the June 4 meeting. For more information about the proposed changes and the meeting, please refer to the PDF “Title 128 Outreach Letter” posted below. Also attached is a PDF of the presentation which will be discussed in greater detail at the June 4 meeting.
A teleconference line (888-820-1398, attendee code 9932065#) will be available for participants who cannot attend the June 4 meeting in person.
