Hearing Scheduled June 20 for Lincoln-Ashland Plant’s Wastewater Discharge Permit
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a public hearing and information session on June 20 regarding the agency’s proposal to issue, with change, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the City of Lincoln-Ashland Potable Water Treatment Plant (PWTP).
The treatment plant, located at 401 Highway 6, Ashland, supplies drinking water for the City of Lincoln. The process wastewater discharge is from Outfalls 001, 002, 003, and 004 to Salt Creek, Segment LP2-10000 of the Lower Platte River Basin, via an unnamed tributary. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations.
NDEQ will be conducting the public hearing at 2 p.m. June 20 at the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Room LLB, Lincoln. Prior to the hearing, a public information session will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the same location. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public testimony and evidence pertinent to the proposed issuance of the NPDES permit number NE0111155.
