Course Regarding Petroleum Site Assessment and Cleanup to be Held April 1 and 2

February 12, 2014 -- A course titled “Light Nonaqueous-Phase Liquids: Science, Management and Technology” is being offered to those who are involved in the assessment and cleanup of petroleum facilities. The two-day training course will be held April 1 and 2, 2014 at the InterContinental at the Plaza hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. The training is hosted by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment through the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council.

What’s the course about?
The assessment and remediation of light, nonaqueous-phase liquid (primarily petroleum products) presents a significant challenge for corrective action and cleanup at petroleum processing, storage and handling facilities. Those types of facilities include refineries, bulk product terminals, gas stations, airports and military bases. Petroleum products can be difficult to adequately assess and remediate. The ITRC offers this course to assist environmental practitioners with applying science-based solutions for petroleum sites.

Who should attend?
Regulatory staff involved in petroleum remediation programs, site owners, consultants, public stakeholders and others interested in science-based approaches to assess, remediate and close petroleum contaminated sites.
