Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines

Applicability

eCFR Subpart ZZZZ - [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:

  1. Stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE), unless they are being tested at a stationary RICE test cell/stand.

The following RICE are subject to the rule, but have no requirements:

  1. Existing spark ignition 2SLB RICE > 500 HP at Major Sources;
  2. Existing spark ignition 4SLB RICE > 500 HP at Major Sources;
  3. Existing emergency RICE > 500 HP at Major Sources that operate ≤ 15 hours/year for emergency demand response and local reliability voltage deviations;
  4. Existing limited use RICE > 500 HP at Major Sources;
  5. Existing landfill or digester gas RICE > 500 HP at Major Sources.

Not Subject to this Subpart:

  1. Existing residential, commercial, and institutional emergency RICE at Area Sources used ≤ 15 hours/year for emergency demand response, provided they are not also used for local reliability.

All other RICE are subject to requirements under this rule or under the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) Subpart IIII for compression ignition or Subpart JJJJ for spark ignition engines.
