Pesticide Active Ingredient Production
Applicability
eCFR Subpart MMM [ecfr.gov]
This subpart applies to:
- pesticide active ingredient manufacturing process units (PAI process units), located at Major Sources of HAPs*, that process, use or produce HAP, and associated equipment.
Associated equipment:
- Waste management units;
- Heat exchange systems;
- Cooling towers.
*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:
- ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
- ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
- Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.
Not subject to this subpart:
- Research and development facilities;
- PAI process units that are subject to NESHAP F;
- Ethylene production;
- Coal tar distillation;
- Stormwater from segregated sewers;
- Water from fire-fighting and deluge systems, including testing of such systems;
- Spills;
- Water from safety showers;
- Noncontact steam boiler blowdown and condensate;
- Laundry water;
- Vessels storing material that contains no organic HAP or contains organic HAP as impurities only;
- Equipment intended to operate in organic HAP service for less than 300 hours per calendar year.
