Ferroalloys Production Ferromanganese & Silicomanganese Production

Applicability

eCFR Subpart XXX [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:

  1. Ferromanganese and silicomanganese production facilities that are, or are co-located at, Major Sources of HAPs*.
  2. Operation of affected sources as part of a ferromanganese and/or silicomanganese production facilities.

Affected sources:

  1. Electric arc furnaces;
  2. Casting operations;
  3. Metal oxygen refining (MOR) processes;
  4. Crushing and screening operations;
  5. Outdoor fugitive dust sources.


*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:

  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.

  2. New Sources = Commence construction or reconstruction after June 30, 2015.

Compliance Dates

  1. For existing affected sources:
    1. Provisions §§63.1620 through 63.1629 by: June 30, 2017
    2. Provisions §§63.1650 through 63.1661 by: November 21, 2001 - June 30, 2017
    3. The provisions of §§63.1650 through 63.1661 remain enforceable at a source for its activities prior to June 30, 2017.
