NDEQ produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.

Emerging Risks/Issues:
•The agency kicked off the formation of a Team to develop a two-phase Energy Plan for the state. The first phase will be similar to what is in the Energy Annual Report, which provides a detailed summary of Nebraska energy statistics. The second phase will be more topic-oriented and provide greater examination of current energy issues.
Accomplishments:
•NDEE has finalized emergency loans from the state revolving fund with Peru, Boyd County, and Plattsmouth and has almost finalized a loan with Crab Orchard. These bridge loans are offered at 0% interest to help communities repair their water systems that were damaged in the March flood event.
•Through our Grow Nebraska outreach efforts, NDEE held its first-ever webinar on July 25. This webinar focused on flood debris management. We plan to hold monthly webinars, with the next scheduled for Aug. 21 with a focus on air compliance.
•The 2020 grant round was open through August 14 for the Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grants, Litter Reduction & Recycling Grants, and Scrap Tire Grants. 2020 is the first year that all three grant programs have aligned their application period, along with the grant term, which is January 1 – December 31, 2020. Grant applications for the 2020 grant term dealing with the reuse or recycling of materials from flood-related cleanup work will be given priority consideration.
