Emerging Risks/Issues:
•NDEE announced the availability of rebates for new electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment.  Applications are being accepted until Nov. 15.  This funding (approximately $1.2 million) will provide partial reimbursement of the cost of the purchase, installation, and maintenance of Level 2 and Direct Current (DC) Fast Charging equipment at highway corridor, community, and workplace locations.
Accomplishments:
•NDEE awarded over $2.6 million in rebates to schools across Nebraska to aid in the replacement of older diesel school buses. The funded projects include 60 public school districts, one private school, and one bus contractor serving a public school district. Each project will replace one older diesel bus with a new bus with much lower emissions.
•The City of Beatrice and corporate partner Centel (now Sprint) have worked cooperatively through the state’s Voluntary Cleanup Program to clean up a former manufactured gas plant on the bank of the Big Blue River in downtown Beatrice.  The cooperative efforts reached a successful conclusion in late August, when NDEE issued a “no further action required” letter.
Misc. Items of Note:
•NDEE will present an NPDES (wastewater discharge) reporting webinar on Sept. 26. This seminar is intended for facilities that have an individual NPDES permit that are required to submit discharge monitoring reports (DMRs).
