April 2024 Monthly Metrics

NDEE produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.

Accomplishments

  • NDEE invited proposals for a qualified contractor to administer the Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) in Douglas County. Proposals will be accepted through May 28, 2024. NDEE receives funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's WAP to administer Nebraska's WAP (NeWAP). Those funds are allocated to sub-grantees, who serve defined regional areas. The subgrantees work with individuals and families in their areas to make weatherization improvements to homes. Funds are used to improve the energy efficiency of the low-incomes homes using the most advanced technologies and diagnostic testing protocols available in the energy efficiency retrofit industry.
  • NDEE announced the 2023 Nebraska Clean Diesel Program is awarding approximately $599,000 in rebates, funded by an annual grant form the EPA, to 31 farmers across the state to aid in replacing diesel irrigation engines with electric motors. Nitrogen oxides emitted by diesel engines can have direct adverse effects on respiratory health as well as contribute to the formation of harmful ground-level ozone. The projects in this year's program are expected to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 10 tons annually.
